Capacity adjustments to handle freight volumes in the Golden Triangle area as needed. Ports of Auckland and Tauranga will face disruptions affecting both freight and passenger transport. Freight Operations During Closures: January 3 - 24, 2025 Freight services between Ports of Auckland and Southdown will operate from January 3 - 24, 2025, before the final closure. All rail services are set to resume by 6:00pm on January 27, 2025. KiwiRail is collaborating with key agencies to mitigate disruptions, including managing road traffic for trucks. Desert Road Closure: January 6 to late February, 2025 The Desert Road will be closed between January 6 to late February (date TBC), so plan accordingly. Source: CaroTrans KiwiRail: Line Closures 27 Dec, 2024 - 27 Jan, 2025 08 November 2024 Following the recent announcement by KiwiRail of the Christmas/Holiday Block of Line plan for Auckland, we would like to inform you of the changes to rail coverage for freight services to and from Auckland Metroport and the Port of Tauranga. KiwiRail's announcement confirmed line closures will affect rail freight services from 27th December 2024 until 27th January 2025, effectively between Hamilton and Auckland. The closures are required as part of Auckland’s City Rail Link (CRL) work programme. KiwiRail are providing a temporary road-bridge solution. Dry containers will be road-bridged between Hamilton and Auckland Metroport. Reefer containers will be road-bridged direct to/from Tauranga and Auckland Metroport. Source: KiwiRail U.S. Ports Reopen After 3-Day Strike 07 October 2024 The ports reopened on October 4th after a 3-day strike which affected operations at Atlantic and Gulf Coast ports. The International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) agreed to extend the master contract until January 15, 2025, and will continue negotiating other unresolved matters. Although the strike has now ended, we are still expecting to see delays in both the East and West Coast while the backlog of vessels is cleared. Despite mixed economic signals, yields rose 11.7% year-over-year, significantly above pre-pandemic levels, with Asia-Pacific leading demand growth at 14.6%. Source: Air Cargo News Delta Cargo ACAS Operational Update 26 September 2024 Starting October 7th, 2024, Delta Air Lines will not be able to load any U.S.-bound shipments that do not have an Air Cargo Advance Screening (ACAS) “Assessment Complete” status. Customers are urged to review U.S. Customs and Border Protection's website and provide acceptable cargo descriptions to prevent shipment rejections.
